Privacy notice
Last updated 29 September 2026
Objees helps students practise for their school exams with past questions and mock papers. Most people who use Objees are children, so we collect as little as we can and never sell it. This notice explains, in plain words, what we keep and why. It follows Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843).
What we keep about students
- Name, a username we make up for them, and their class level (for example, the year they're in).
- Which school they're in, if a school added them.
- Their 6-digit PIN, stored scrambled so nobody at Objees can read it.
- What they do in Objees: the papers they sit, their answers, their scores, and any problems they report with a question.
We never ask a student for an email address, phone number, date of birth or photo. A student's account is made by their school or by a parent or guardian, who hold the contact details.
What we keep about parents and guardians
- Name and phone number. We text one code to check the number when you sign up, and again if you forget your PIN.
- Your PIN, stored scrambled.
- Which children you've added.
- Your payments: what you bought, the amount, the date, and the last four digits of the number that paid. The payment company handles the full number.
What we keep about school staff
Name, email address or phone number, a scrambled password, and which school you work for.
Phones and browsers you sign in on
Each phone or browser gets its own sign-in, named after the device (for example "Chrome on Android"), so one lost phone can be signed out without affecting the others. On a shared phone, Objees keeps a list of the profiles signed in on it, but never keeps anyone's questions or answers on the phone.
What we don't do
- No adverts, and no tracking or analytics tools from other companies.
- We don't sell or share your information for marketing.
- No messaging between users.
- The only text messages we send are sign-in codes. No reminders, reports or promotions.
Who can see what
- A student sees their own papers, answers and scores.
- A parent or guardian sees the scores of the children they added, and nobody else's.
- A school sees its own students (name, username, level) and their results on the school's own mock papers. A school never sees a guardian's phone number.
- The Objees team can see accounts to give support, and every change we make that touches a student's information is recorded.
Companies that help us run Objees
We use a hosting company to run our servers, a payment company (Paystack) to take Mobile Money and card payments, and text-message companies (Arkesel, with mNotify as a backup) to send sign-in codes. They may only use your information to do that work for us.
How long we keep it
We keep an account's information while the account is in use. When an account is deleted, the student's name, username, answers, scores and access are removed. We keep a note that an account was deleted and when, without the name or username, and payment records the law requires us to keep.
Your rights
You can ask to see the information we hold, to correct it, or to delete it.
- Parents and guardians: in the app, open your child and choose to remove them. If no school holds the child's account, you can ask us to delete it completely.
- Students in a school: ask your school, or ask a parent or guardian to contact us.
- Anyone: contact us using the details below.
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can also complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission.
Keeping it safe
PINs and passwords are stored scrambled, everything travels over a secure connection, sign-in attempts are limited, and a PIN reset signs the account out everywhere.
